Raised Ranch House Plans

Raised ranch house plans are also described as split foyers and sometimes split levels.

These floor plans are very efficient with their practical use of space and square footage. A well designed plan can feel quite large for its size.
This link takes you to a variety of floor plan choices.

Our first home

Our first home (with my first wife) was this raised ranch. The picture was taken in 2007. The house was built in 1975.

We hired a builder and did a lot of work ourselves on weekends and nights to keep the cost down. (Roofing, insulation, drywall, brick, painting, landscaping, etc.)

We didn’t have a lot of money so I designed our home with a one bedroom apartment in the lower level. It has its own entrance on the side of the house.

We also used 1/3 of the basement for ourselves. It has a 6’ sliding glass door walk-out to the backyard.

  • Main level 1200 square feet
  • 3 bedrooms and 1 bath on the main floor
  • 1 bedroom apartment on the lower level

We built this house for $42,000 including the lot. When we sold it 7 years later we ended up with $32,000 in equity. Not Bad! It was all about timing. I can’t take any credit.

Along with the landscaping we did I think this house has a nicer look and feel than a lot of split foyer homes.
